Bobbie Dawson (she/her)
Provisional Psychologist
BA-Psych (Hons), Canada; PGCE – Secondary, UK;
Prof Cert in Positive Education (Australia);
MAPPCP degree candidate (UK).
I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults and parents/carers and for the past 15 years I have worked in secondary schools as a pastoral care leader and registered teacher. Trained in both education and psychology, I have worked with young people and their parents/carers to build positive relationships, improve student wellbeing and teach tools and strategies needed to navigate various challenges and difficulties that life can throw at us. I work in a holistic and person-centred style where I take a proactive, pragmatic and responsive care approach to working with clients and their families. I am especially committed to building trust, rapport and meaningful engagement and will use tailored evidence and strengths-based interventions that best suit the client’s needs in order to optimise therapeutic outcomes and inspire positive change.

More About Bobbie:

Originally from the east coast of Canada, I moved to Canberra in 2010 and am a mum to a young family. I have always loved learning, and from a young age have been curious and drawn to different ways of seeing and experiencing the world. I have always wanted to understand myself and others better, and to work with people to see their potential and to achieve their personal goals. These opportunities along with now being a mum to two young boys (and an energetic vizsla dog!) has allowed me to see the world from different perspectives – it has helped me understand how important it is to recognise and respond to the needs we each have as individuals in a caring, validating and unconditional way.

I love spending time with my family, travelling, and exploring new cultures, hiking with our dog and being near the ocean. I also love to read nonfiction, daydream about future plans and adventures, and exercise – particularly swimming, yoga and pilates.
